Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets

Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets - a review by Dave Fischer

Alright, first off, let me just admit that I have always hated Adam Sandler. Even so, I honestly believe that "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" is so horrible that even Sandler fans should avoid it. I know that he likes "potty humour", but to have an entire film, an entire 90-or-so minutes on that big screen revolve around an infantile semi-adult, named "Harry Potter", going "potty" has to be a new low.

The movie starts with an idiotic, childish routine: dumb joke from Sandler about being named "Harry Potter" and having to go "Potty" - followed by a trip to the "Chamber of Secrets" - a shot of the closed bathroom door and a few minutes of disgusting sound effects. Finally he opens the door, makes a face and joke about the smell, and returns to his bedroom. At this point, almost ten minutes had elapsed, and I was expecting, and desperately hoping, that the movie would now go somewhere.

I was sorely disappointed.

The cycle repeats. "Harry Potter" visits his Secret Potty Chamber at least a dozen times, as the jokes get dumber, the sound effects more disgusting, and the routine more pointless.

I cannot believe this project received financial backing.
